Trailflex Permeable Paving in Saffron Walden

We are excited to share the success of our recent collaboration with Essex County Council and Bellway Homes, in the installation of Trailflex on a 2000-metre pathway around Poppy View housing complex. The brief was to create a sustainable urban drainage system (SuDs) compliant path that is safe for both pedestrians and cyclists to use and that would blend seamlessly with the surrounding countryside.

Trailflex was the perfect solution for this project, offering a bespoke colorway that complemented the natural beauty of the area. The innovative product can process over 80,000 liters of rainwater per meter per hour, making it an ideal solution for a sustainable drainage system. Moreover, the product is virtually maintenance-free, making it an excellent choice for busy urban areas.

The installation of Trailflex was completed in October 2022, with a 35mm depth of product being used on the 2000m2 pathways. We added additional stone to the surface to create a bespoke finish, mixed different ratios on-site for the council to decide on, and used our pink premium+ mesh for ground stabilization.

We are proud to have been a part of this project and to have contributed to the creation of a safe and sustainable pathway for the community to use. The success of this collaboration showcases the versatility of Trailflex and the value it can add to any project.
